Jan 6-12

Friday Jan. 6

I had a really cool spiritual experience today. I woke up with a headache, but really wanted to be at devotional. So I pushed through and got there. Right after devo my head hurt really bad so I took an Excedrin. I started working and hoped the medicine would work, even though I didn't take it when the headache started. My doctor told me it wouldn't be very beneficial unless I took it at the beginning. I was really discouraged and was praying and thinking "Where is the health I was promised?" I was doing everything I could to serve and I kept getting migraines and not feeling good. I started working. We were using metal shovels to break through the icy snow to create a path to the propane tanks. I got a really sharp pain in my head and dropped my shovel. Elder Speed asked if I was ok and I told him I was fine. It started feeling better gradually and then it was gone. I felt extra happy and peaceful and less worried. I've never felt quite like that before. I knew I could work and that God had really blessed me. It was huge to me. I really wanted to work and I knew God blessed me to be able to.

Path to the propane tanks.

After lunch Elder Speed and I helped set up some new computers in the annex of the office. Now the missionaries can use them for family search and indexing when we have down time.

Saturday Jan. 7

A spider I found in the snow.

There isn't as much work opportunity at Ensign Ranch during the winter, so I'm going to serve from home until Spring so I can stay busy. My parents picked me up Saturday evening and we brought home some of my things and left the rest until Spring.

Sunday Jan. 8

I attended the YSA ward today. Since my family is at church at their ward building at the same time, Mikel Garcia gave me a ride to the Stake Center. He's always fun to talk to.

Tuesday Jan. 10

Headed out for a walk.

I made dinner for my family today. Chicken stir fry and vegetables with some eggplant in it. I learned a trick of how to cook eggplant so it's not bitter. The stir fry was really good.

Wednesday Jan. 11

I had a zoom meeting with a service missionary council from SLC. It was so helpful and good information.  I also had a zoom meeting with President Allred and my district that evening.

Thursday Jan. 12

Today I met President Allred at Salvation Army at 9 a.m. We met Lisa, their coordinator. I'm going to start volunteering there tomorrow and will work M, T, Th, F from 1:30-5:30 p.m. I'm also getting called as a temple worker and will be set apart tomorrow morning in the temple. I'm going to do the mid-day shift on Saturdays and drive up with a couple other temple workers each Saturday.

I do a morning devotional with my mom each morning at home. As part of my devotional I shared the "song of the day." Here's the lyrics to a song I like. It's got a good message:

Trouble by Avicii
I've been a beggar and I've been a king
I've been a loner and I've worn the ring
Losing myself just to find me again
I'm a million miles smarter, but I ain't learnt a thing

I've been a teacher and a student of hurt
I've kept my word for whatever that's worth
Never been last, but I've never been first
No I may not be the best, but I'm far from the worst
No I may not be the best, but I'm far from the worst

Oh I've seen trouble more than any man should bear
But I've seen enough joy, I've had more than my share
And I'm still not done, I'm only halfway there
I'm a million miles ahead of where I'm from
But there's still another million miles to come

I keep on searching for the city of gold
And I'm gonna follow this yellow brick road
Thinking that maybe, it might lead me home
I'm a million miles farther and a long way from home

I know that there's a plan that goes beyond mine
Got to step back just to see the design
The mind fears the heart but the heart doesn't mind
No I may not be perfect, but I'm loving this life
No I may not be perfect, but I'm loving this life
